After 150 screenings at educational institutions, schools, community centers and campuses, Unsafe Spaces is now available on YouTube for the general public.
The 17-minute documentary film brings first-hand accounts and examples to illustrate how threats against Jewish students have dangerously evolved: from open attacks for defending Israel, to being marginalized from progressive spaces just for being Jewish. The voices of students — and influencers like Blake Flayton, Peter Fox and Julia Jassey — come together to share what they are experiencing on campuses, at work, and in the media.
“The topics raised in the film have generated important discussions,” says Noam Weissman, OpenDor Media’s executive vice president, who moderated many of the screenings. “We need to openly discuss how perceptions of what it is to be a Jew and a Zionist are taking dangerous turns. The film triggers critical conversations on Jewish pride and how Zionism and progressive ideologies are not diametrically opposed.”
