Exodus 91: The Untold Story of Operation Solomon hits the silver screen in Europe and the U.S.
The World Premiere of Exodus 91, our docudrama on the 1991 airlift of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, took place at the 2022 House of Tolerance Film Festival in Ljubljana Slovenia. The second stop on the film festival circuit was at the Austin Texas Jewish Film Festival in November 2022.
Created in the belief that the best way to help young people become the leaders of tomorrow is by sharing with them the stories of the past, Exodus 91 tells the story of this mission from the perspective of Israeli diplomat Asher Naim. During the mission, Naim and his Ethiopian-Israeli colleagues grapple with complex questions of immigration politics, racism and national interests. The film challenges viewers to balance the delicate interplay of truth and fiction in diplomacy and in building a national and religious identity.
The film holds transformative power, as one of the festival programmers expressed: “First, let me tell you what a great film you’ve created! It is a story I didn’t know and it is so well crafted. It was one of those films that we did not need to debate whether to include or not.”
Upcoming screenings include the Miami Jewish Film Festival in January 2023.
