OpenDor Media’s exclusive benefit at Ikonick: The Collection Gallery on December 16, 2021 was a resounding success.
The benefit drew over 100 people who gathered to support OpenDor Media’s work in innovative Jewish education through popular digital platforms. The evening featured an exclusive screening of “UPHEAVAL: The Journey of Menachem Begin” a new documentary film produced by Hidden Light Institute in association with OpenDor Media, about the life and times of the former Israeli prime minister and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
The evening’s honoree and host, Executive Producer Barry Skolnick, shared with guests his passion for Menachem Begin’s inspirational story and his commitment to investing in the Jewish future.
“Menachem Begin was a strong and proud Jew who did whatever it took to protect Israel and its people,” said Skolnck. “And this is the kind of leadership we need today to confront antisemitism. I am proud to be part of this film and hope his life will inspire young Jews to be proud and unapologetic, never giving up on Israel, and their Jewish heritage and values.”
A celebratory, upbeat atmosphere opened the evening, with guests entering on a red carpet, where they were greeted by the courteous staff. Guests mingled together in the unique venue, while enjoying Skolnick’s eclectic car collection and a buffet dinner and cocktails. Among the guests was former Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
Guests from the North Miami community learned about OpenDor Media’s Unpacked Jewish media brand and the nuanced, thought-provoking videos and resources that help high school and college students remain connected to Israel and untangle the complexities of Jewish life on campus. David Coleman, OpenDor Media’s senior producer discussed the organization’s achievements during this challenging time and how programming has continued uninterrupted despite the global pandemic. Plans for upcoming projects in 2022 were shared as well.
